This and that!

As many of you know, last week I came down with all kinds of yucky "things!" We left Palm Springs last Sunday, where we had been enjoying a simple getaway weekend in the sun accompanied by lots of cocktails (virgin for mommy, of course!) several hours than we'd originally planned. Both Matt and I weren't feeling so hot, but at that point Matt was in a much worse state than I. Once back in San Diego, we both crashed for the rest of the day. By that evening, Matt was still a little queazy but tons better. I on the other hand had spiked a 101.5 temperature and was just miserable. Long story short, I couldn't break the temp, felt much worse the next morning, and missed work Monday. After going to the doctor, my primary care sent me home with the flu, said rest a lot, drink plenty of fluids, and no work until Wednesday. She advised me to jet straight to ER if my temp was not down by 4pm that afternoon. Fortunately, we never did have to go to ER. Come time to return to work Wednesday, I knew I wasn't ready, but naturally I went in. Now, I am not one to go to a supervisor and say "I'm sick, I need to leave!" But I did this time. I barely made it through 3 hours of the morning before I knew I just needed to be home, in bed, because clearly something was not right. Before heading home, though, I decided to stop by my doctor's office once again, in hopes that I looked miserable enough for them to see me ASAP. Indeed, I must have looked horrible (I know that I did!), not to mention I began balling when I was explaining my symptoms and that I simply DID NOT FEEL GOOD AT ALL. They brought me back immediately. It took all of 10 minutes to culture me for strep throat: positive. And take a look at my sinuses for an infection: double positive. In 40 minutes, I saw the doctor, was told "yes you are very sick, here is an Rx for antibiotics," and was home in bed again AT LAST! By Thursday morning after nearly 18 hours of sleep, antibiotics, and lots of fluids, I felt better than I had in several weeks. So, I have a hunch that this bug was lingering for quite some time and it just finally decided to explode!

In terms of baby news, there isn't much. Well, yes there is! We felt baby move since my last blog! I was in bed when it happened. I yelled for Daddy, who came running because he was positive that my shrieks were an indicator that I had slipped or something! He only got to feel it very briefly, but it was still the sweetest moment together: all 3 of us! Funny thing, baby moved this first and only time (so far) when I was lying on my back. I am confident that heshe was telling me that I can't do that anymore because lying on my back, once a very comfortable, relaxing position, is absolutely the most uncomfortable position now (next to my tummy, which is just totally and completely in the way now!)

We just booked THE 20 week sonogram appt.!! This is the "big" appointment as our doctor called it and they will be able to measure and weigh baby, as well as tell us the sex!!! Which of course, we are anxiously, impatiently waiting to hear! That appt. is June 11th. at 1pm.  June 12th, though, we plan to have a 4D sonogram done of baby. We have invited all of our family to be with us at this appt. and this will be the time that we find out if we will have a baby boy or baby girl! Names have been chosen by mommy and daddy, folks, but that piece will remain a surprise to all until heshe makes a grand enterance into the world! =) (We think we have them picked out, however we do often talk about other possibilities. Then again, we ALWAYS come back to the two originals!) Jessica is very, very excited to find out if she is having a baby sister or baby brother. She told Grandpa that the day we find out, everyone has to start shopping to begin filling up baby's closet! I think our pre-Madonna/DIVA just wants to shop with a reasonable excuse! =)

I think I will get going. Daddy is out for the night with his buddies and I promised myself that I would absolutely relish this time to myself! Although, we do look forward to having him home soon for "belly time!"

Happy Mother's Day to all!

With love,
Mommy and baby
